I've heard that there are no PPO options available in my state. Is that accurate?

Although it's true that many states don't provide PPO plans through the government or ACA Marketplace, most offer private PPOs from reputable industry leaders. What does COBRA involve, and when might it be advantageous to utilize it?

Upon leaving a company, the former employee typically has the option to utilize COBRA for 18 months, retaining the same plan they had during their employment. New insurance cards are not issued, and the deductible remains unchanged. However, the significant distinction is that the former employee now bears the full responsibility for the entire payment without the company's subsidy. Previously, the employer often covered at least 50% of the employee's insurance payment, sometimes extending assistance to family payments. We recommend considering COBRA if you are currently undergoing treatment or have already met your yearly deductible. In situations where only one family member requires ongoing treatment, maintaining COBRA coverage solely for that individual is often the most cost-effective choice. Drawbacks include the typically high cost and the limited duration of one and a half years. For those in good health, we can often devise a comparable plan at a more competitive price without an expiration date.
